The completely overhauled Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) as passed by Swiss Parliament will likely enter into force in the course of the second half of 2022 or early 2023.

Following the parliamentary approval of the revFADP, the focus shifted in the past year to the relevant ordinance. A revised version of the ordinance to the revFADP has been in public consultation from June to October 2021. Following input from various stakeholders in the course of the consultation, the Federal Administration is currently busy preparing a revised version to be published in the course of 2022.
For further details on the key changes to be introduced with the revFADP, please see our previously published Legal Update of 15 January 2021.
