Urs Kloeti studierte Finanzwissenschaften (lic.oec. 1990) und Rechtswissenschaften (lic.iur 1994) an der Hochschule St. Gallen. 1991 und 1992 arbeitete er im Finanzbereich für eine Schweizer Firma in Indonesien. 1998 erwarb er das Rechtsanwaltspatent im Kanton Zürich.
Von 2000 bis 2003 leitete er den Rechtsdienst (Recht und Compliance) bei der Bank Merrill Lynch Capital Markets AG, Zürich.
